The 5 Coolest Features of GPT4o

Open AI released a new update called GPT-4o. And what does the “o” stand for? It stands for omni, a latin prefix for “all”, which is a reference to its plans to handle all types of input ranging from text, voice, audio, and video. Here’s a glimpse into its impressive features that set GPT-4o apart from its predecessors.

GPT-4o is Natively Multi-Modal

GPT-4o can answer and understand the world through voice, text, and images, all in one interface. It can also emulate different styles and accents. While one can say that this feature has been around for ages (e.g. Google images), the response, the response time, and the accuracy is impressive.

Here are a few things that featured its multimodal capabilities:

GPT-4o Has The Same GPT-4 Intelligence, But With Faster Response Time.

GPT-4o boasts of its response time of 0.32 seconds, similar to human response time. It’s way too faster than its predecessor of 2.8s for GPT-3.5 and 5.4s for GPT-4.

It also has advanced contextual awareness, even gauging the speaker’s emotion based on their voice tone and tailoring its responses accordingly.  Check out GPT4-o’s fast response in a conversation.

GPT-4o Can Speak More than 50 Different Languages and Can Translate In Real Time

Depending on the training data, GPT-4o is capable of learning different languages. Imagine traveling in a country with an unfamiliar linguistic environment, this realtime translation feature can be a life-saver and will be super helpful in navigating your way, bridging language barriers and enhancing cross-cultural communication.

GPT-4o is Free (With Capacity Limits)

The free users can now enjoy the following advanced features:

  • Data analysis and chart creation
  • File Uploads  for assistance summarizing, writing or analyzing
  • Browse
  • Discovering and using GPTs
  • Advanced Vision capabilities, which increases accuracy in understanding images you share.

Limitations

  • Usage limits. Once you reach the limit, Free Tier users will be switched to GPT-3.5

GPT-4o Has A Safety Built-in By Design

To secure responsible AI development, OpenAI implements guardrails such as filtering training data to mitigate biases and minimize harmful content and restricting certain voice outputs, including limiting preset voices to ensure AI voice is used appropriately, which aligns with their existing safety policies.

This update is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be several rolling out in the coming weeks. For more information, visit their site at OpenAI, and subscribe for updates here or follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter.
